Keep up-to-date with all the latest news happening in our school.
We have commemorated the 100-year anniversary of the end of the Great War by holding a special assembly in school this morning. The P5/6 children prepared an excellent assembly, and welcomed many of their parents and members of the Board of Governors.
The Primary 5,6 and 7 children were also treated to a special talk by Mr Gourley, a local expert on the Great War. This marked the end of an excellent week of work in class.
Today at the Harvest Service, Rev J. Sloan, the Chair of our Governors paid tribute to four of our Governors who are standing down. Dr Mills was during her time a Vice Chair and the Chair, serving for a number of terms of office, Mr T. McNeilly stands down after many years serving and supporting the school and Mrs R. Weir and Mr R. Sheridan served for one term, giving fours years of their time and support to our school, for which we are very grateful.
We also said thank you to Miss McCartney who has worked at the school in a number of roles for over twenty-two years. She has left to take up a new position and we all wish her well.
This year's Primary Six children have just returned from their first Shared Education trip with our friends at Millquarter Primary School.
Millie and Rebecca take up the story:
Today our class went to W5 on a very exciting trip, joined by Millquarter Primary School. The bus ride was quite a long journey, but it was totally worth it!
When we got there we had our break, after that we went to the Explore Go room. We had a very bizarre time playing tug of war and beat every school we played! Some boys built cars with electric engines! Then we went to the Explore See room and did lots of fun things including football, puzzles and volleyball. Luckily we got to go to Climbit and played a very exciting game of catchies. We had our lunch and then went to the Lecture Theatre and watched a very entertaining show about Maths. There was a lot of magic tricks included. After the show we got on the bus and went home. We had a great day.

The combined talents of Primary 5,6 &7 finished off our annual Measures week with a bake off competition for charity. Children brought in secret recipes, utensils and ingredients and created many different baked goodies all for our sale on Friday.
We were very lucky to have the expert guidance (and mixers) of Mrs Bell, ably assisted by Mrs Gibson to helps us. A great morning was had by all, and all for a great cause.
After a relaxing journey with our lovely bus driver we have arrived. We have had plenty of fun already exploring the grounds, playing football and rugby. We are now settled in our rooms, some of us learned how to make our bed for the first time! We are now awaiting our first lunch of sausage and chips!
More to follow later!
Primary 5/6 had a wonderful day at Baronscourt estate, participating in this year's Pushkin project. The focus for 2018 is Opening ground, something that the children of P5/6 have become experts at!
The children participated in workshops based on the Arts and creativity. Together they worked with children from Currie P.S. in North Belfast. They had a wonderful day, with many catching 40 winks on the way home!
