For the first time in a long time, Groggan are taking part in a football league! We are part of the inaugural Antrim and Randalstown football league, which will take place monthly at the new state-of-art 4G facility at Allen Park. We had our first two matches today, against Ballycraigy and St Josephs.
We we started off strongly, despite playing into the sun, a goal from Harry was the difference between the two sides, it could have been two or three. Ballycraigy's 'keeper was in fine form, denying Tommy who played out of his skin in both matches, leading the line with both courage and skill. Special mention also for Grace who played excellently in defence.
In game 2, Groggan came unstuck against a strong St. Josephs team who took the lead early and never looked back. Groggan were playing catch up for the whole 20 minutes in a physical encounter that saw excellent work from our forward players but without the luck of a goal.
Two games down, three points in the bag and roll on next time!
The children did so well in such a big day for the school, there were many, many new faces in the team and for their first time playing together as a team, they did brilliantly, I was so very proud of them.
Many thanks also to the parents who lent their support today.
Watch out Alan Sugar! Our entrepreneurial Primary 6 children attended a session in Mossley Mill this morning facilitated by Young Enterprise NI. It's aim is to educate children on how businesses work and encourages them to think like a business person. Everyone had a wonderful time and as usual, they did the school proud!
Our Charity Committee presented £330 to Sarah from MacMillan today. This was the proceeds from our recent Coffee Morning. Thank you everyone.
