Keep up-to-date with all the latest news happening in our school.
Primary 6 and 7 had Ruth and Chris from Love for Life visiting today. They unpacked lots of 'suitcases' with both year groups, all about friendship, choices, emotions and our bodies. The children loved the fun and both presenters were brilliant.
Today was the turn of our Primary 6 pupils to take part in the National Standards Level1 training with John and Colin. They all had a super time. Thank to Sustrans in Northern Ireland for funding the scheme, to Johnny our Sustrans in Northern Ireland Officer for organising everything and to John and Colin for being so patient with children; we have loved having you both at Groggan!
Three Primary 1 stars came to show me their amazing writing.
They made my day!
We have been so fortunate to have John and Colin from Sustrans in Northern Ireland with us this week. They are delivering a cycling programme to our Primary 5-7 pupils. On Tuesday it was the turn of Primary 5 who had a super day learning how to cycle safely, all delivered in a fun way.
Last year we were delighted to have been successful in our application for a Rural Community Pollinator Grant. This allowed us to create a garden at the front of school, which will attract wildlife and make a beautiful display. The plants chosen are heavily scented and colourful along with some herbs and vegetables. Our pupils have been very busy getting the planters and beds ready and have had a great time planting.
They have been taught anumber of life skills, such as how to identify a weed, planting and how to use a brush!
A huge thank you to Mr Finlay from Kells and Connor Primary School for inviting our pupils to a friendly Football tournament today. The team drew their first match and won the rest. Mr Curry's player of the tournament was Jake McNeilly for his fantastic defensive heading of the ball.
We are all so very proud of these four amazing girls who entertained the residents of Maine Fold at their Coronation celebrations. The girls were so well looked after and brought back treats for the rest of the class. Thank you to Mrs Burns for the invitation and for spoiling them! @LinkGenNI
Today we celebrated the Coronation of Charles III with a day filled with fun and food!
We had an Assembly where P7 told us all about the Coronation and they even had their own King Charles III who was crowned!
We celebrated our King and Queen for the day, who cut the ribbon for our celebrations to begin. Next, we had our Right Royal Parade with everyone showing off their super outfits.
After that, we had a lovely Break and a special Coronation cupcake to follow.
Our lunch today was a Coronation special which we all enjoyed eating together and Mrs H made sure the staff were well looked after too.
After lunch we had another surprise, a visit from Robert the ice cream man!
Finally, P4-7 had a Right Royal Quiz altogether in the Hall.
What a super day!
A huge thank you to all the staff who helped today to make it such a special occasion for the children.
Today is #WorldDailyMileDay! We had great fun taking part with all of our friends and doing our bit to stay healthy. As a #Take5 school we try to 'Be Active' each day. We are also working together at school with our @SustransNI officer Johnny, to be more active in lots of ways.
