  On Friday we launched our Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing  inititiave.

   

  The five steps are Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Give and Take Notice. Throughout the school year, the children will be focusing on each step and taking part in lots of activities. The initiative helps people take care of their mental health and wellbeing and regularly practising the Five Ways is beneficial to everyone.  Thank you to Chris Lindsay from the Education Authority who has provided support to the school and helped us on our journey to becoming a Take 5 accredited school.

   

   

   

  

• Poetry in Motion Success!

  We have been fortunate enough to have been involved with the Community Arts Partnership’s ‘Poetry in Motion’ Schools programme for the past two school years. The programme’s aim is to develop the children’s creativity through writing, and we have made strong links with the Partnership and local poet, Maura Johnson. The children and the poet worked together to write poems, with a selection published in the Poetry in Motion school’s anthology each year. This year’s theme ‘Write to the Heart’ encouraged the children to write about their favourite places or memories. The pupils in the group photo all had their poems published. We were delighted to learn that one of our pupils, was awarded the Seamus Heaney Award for Achievement for his poem ‘Here is my Favourite Place’.

  We are very proud of him and all of the children who were involved.

  

• Sports Day photos

  We are very lucky to have to opportunity to share with you some of the excellent professional photos taken at our Sports Day.

   

  In order to raise some money for School Funds, copies of the photos posted to your child's Seesaw account can be purchased for £5 each for a 6x8 photo. Copies of the photographs can be purchased on school money system from MONDAY. Please complete the attached form to indicate your choices, more than one photo can be selected.

• Welcome Back

  A very big thanks to Glendale Tree Services and  to Sam and James for donating and delivering fresh bark for our Outdoor Classroom. We are very grateful and know the children will be so excited to use the area again when we welcome them back to school.

  

• Primary 6 Sentinus Workshop

  A big thank you to Sentinus, who held a virtual STEM workshop with Primary 6 today. The children had great fun making vehicles and investigating which one was the fastest.
