Welcome to our class page. In Term 3, the teacher is Miss Downey. We have three super Classroom Assistants Mrs Morren, Mrs Scott and Mrs McKee.

Our Primary 7 pupils continued our great work with our senior friends from Randalstown Fold. This week they have been working together on an Art project creating felt sunflowers for an installation. As usual Mrs. Burns spoiled them with some Break and they had great fun working together and were even introduced to music by the great Frank Sinatra! Thank you to Mrs. Burns, the artist and our wonderful Senior friends. Linking Generations Northern Ireland

They took part in the Big Walk and Wheel to BE ACTIVE and to KEEP LEARNING they watched the P6 class assembly.

P7 'giving' big smiles for Take 5 Day 2! ...'Being Active' is a favourite in our class... We 'took notice' of what's happening in the world by watching Newsround after break... We 'connected' by working in pairs to solve the mystery and catch the thief!... We 'kept learning' by sorting, classifying and evaluating information in Numeracy.

Primary 7 Treat Day - NO more SEAG tests! Primary 7 Treat Day - NO more SEAG tests! A huge thank you to the staff of Ballymena Academy Slemish College and Cambridge House Grammar School for looking after our pupils so very well on the Saturday test days.

Today Primary 7 learned all about Thanksgiving today and had an early celebration for our very special American pupil (in the turkey hat!)

Odd Socks Day 2023 was busy in P7! There were lots of colourful socks, reminding us that we are all different and all important. In Numeracy everybody carried out their own investigation to find out what P7's favourite acts of kindness were and displayed their results in a pie chart which they constructed on laptops using j2data. P7 discussed what the difference in 'banter' and bullying is and designed their own 'bantometer' to show this. Odd Socks Day 2023 was busy in P7! P7 have been learning how flight is used in the life cycle of flowering plants and have made their own flower life cycle wheel.

P7 began the day with an interactive Maths game - dividing by 9 and calculating the remainder. Lots of great teamwork skills were demonstrated!

P7 have been enjoying the Target Board competition on the Maths Week Ireland website. They have been so competitive and have been using lots of Maths skills to reach the daily target.

In P7 today we were planning our persuasive letters that we will give to Mrs Humphrey. You could have heard a pin drop as the writers were so engrossed in their work.

P7 constructed different quadrilaterals and triangles on an online geoboard - using a colour code to clearly differentiate them. They also participated in a paired activity in which they used their problem solving skills to determine whether a 2D shape fact was always, sometimes or never true.

P7 enjoyed their orienteering session in the warm sunshine today. They demonstrated great teamwork skills working with peers from P7 as well as P5 and P6. Reading a map key was the skill developed in today's session - in a very engaging and interactive way.

P7 are currently learning all about flight. They created their own board games under the theme of bird migration. You may get to move a few spaces forward if you find food but you might have to go back if you get very tired flying!

P7 have been developing their knowledge and skills of the genre of Persuasive Writing. Today they were working in small groups to 'assess' the letter that was modelled for them and had participated in developing. With a checklist to guide them, they colour coded all the persuasive features they could identify in the letter - as well as ensuring it was laid out correctly. After this it was then their task to redraft the letter to make it even more persuasive. On presenting their letters their peers identified the persuasive features they had used effectively.

Rugby sessions on a Wednesday morning have been popular with the P7s. With the guidance of our coach, they have been developing lots of great skills including throwing, passing, coordination, working as a team and goal scoring.

P7 have been enjoying workshops with Mark from Reach (Resilience Education Assisting Change to Happen). Today they collaborated with eachother to create a paired presentation on what they would like in a friend. Teamwork skills were evident in the classroom as they all worked very well together.

Our great Primary 7 Tables Challenge has begun.... who will win?

Welcome to our new P7 class for 2023/24!
